Thekkady
Thekkady is one of India's most attractive natural wildlife sanctuary, hill station & spice plantation. Thekkady is all about Periyar. Periyar Wildlife sanctuary is one of the best in the country for watching and photographing wild life. Thekkady is one of the world's most beautiful natural wildlife reserves - the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Widen across 777 sq.km, of which 360 sq. km is full of evergreen forest, the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary was stated a Tiger Reserve in 1978.
Rajamala Wildlife Sanctuary
Rajamala Wildlife Sanctuary, situated 15 kms from Munnar is the natural habitat of Nilgiri Tahr. Partially the world population of the rare mountain goat is concentrated in this area. The animal is fast becoming wiped out. The sanctuary is a part of the Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, and visitors are permitted only to the tourism area in the Rajamala region. A wildlife trip into Rajamala is a great opportunity to come up close with the timorous Tahrs and watch their habits and habitats. It is estimated that the total population of the rare Nilgiri Tahrs to be over 1300. Since Rajamala Wildlife Sanctuary happens to be a chunk of Eravikulam National Park, the visitors are not allowed to explore the entire park.
Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary
Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is a famous reserve extending to an area of more than 90 sq km, and came to recognition as a world life sanctuary in 1984. The sanctuary is home to some of the main peaks including Vellaikalmalai (1863 mts)), Kottakombumalai (2144 mts and Viriyottumalai (1845 mts). The wildlife sanctuary is situated at easily accessible distances from the Eravikulam National Park and Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary.
