Bolgatty Palace
Bolgatty Island is an attractive Island near Kochi. The island is a famous tourist haunt, and houses the Bolghatty palace. The palace was built by the Dutch during their control of the Kingdom of Kochi. The main attraction of Bolgatty Island at Kochi is the very old Bolgatty Palace which was built by a Dutch trader in the year 1744. The palace holds the difference of the oldest Dutch palace outside Holland. In the year 1909, the Britishers took it over on rent. Wellington Island
Wellington Island is a man-made island created from earth dredged, while deepening the Kochi Port. The island is named after Lord Wellington, the British Viceroy.
Hill Palace Museum
The Hill Palace, the official residence of the Kochi royal family, is today the major archaeological museum in Kerala. Built in 1865, the Palace complex consists of 49 buildings in the traditional architectural method of Kerala, sprawled over 52 acres of beautifully landscaped terraced land which houses an antelope. There are over 200 antique pieces of pottery and ceramic vases from Japan and China, Kudakkallu (tomb stone), Thoppikkallu (hood stone), menhirs, granite, laterite memorials, rock cut weapons from the stone ages, wooden temple models, plaster cast models of objects from Mohanjodaro and Harappa of the Indus Valley Civilisation. The museum also houses a gallery of contemporary art.
Malayattoor
Malayattoor is a famous place of pilgrimage in Malabar. The tradition is that the Mother Mary appeared to St. Thomas on the summit of this mountain. The front portion of the Church is designed in the peculiar tradition of Roman Catholic Church. On the left portion of the center door we could trace out the marks of the historic flood of AD 90. The church is divided into three wings where separate facilities are provided for confession and adoration. The ancient baptismal pond and the traditional pulpit are of historical relevance. On one side of the church the river Periyar is flowing calmly soothing the troublesome minds of the pilgrims.
Bhoothathankettu
Bhoothathankettu located 50 km north east of Ernakulam town. Bhoothathankettu is an ideal place for organizing a picnic amidst the glorious beauty of nature. The place has an enchantment in its air and this is why the one who visits it once is unable to leave the place easily.
